David Hockney Totem Revived **
**
2023-24, Archival Coloured Pencil Drawing on Paper - 20.5" x 16.5" (52.1cm x 41.9cm)
In the early 2000's David Hockney created a number of landscape works in East Yorkshire UK that included a particular tree stump that he referred to as a 'totem'. Tragically, this tree stump was eventually vandalized and spitefully cut down (not by the property owner). This work imagines a new 'totem' from Nova Scotia, Canada that, perhaps, may be considered a worthy replacement.
